Pseudocysts
What is a pseudocyst?
A hollow space in the tissue that is surrounded by an epithelial membrane is called a cyst, whereas in a pseudocyst, the hollow space is surrounded by a membrane similar to connective tissue. Inflammatory and degenerative processes in particular lead to the formation of pseudocysts in the further course. Imaging methods are suitable for making a diagnosis.
What treatment options are there?
Different treatment approaches are indicated depending on the course of the disease. They are primarily treated using ultrasound-supported endoscopic procedures, minimally invasive drainage procedures are also available, and surgical procedures are only used secondarily.
